who knows how to tie a bowtie?
it’s crazy that no one our generation knows how - understandable, but something worth learning i think.
Why do we need to learn something when we can just google it?
That’s what I always end up doing with regular neckties too.
no this is the thing - google is fail at this. so a few weeks ago i went to an engagement and forgot my suit (grabbed wrong suitcase), so i had to go buy one.
i had the bright idea of being different and wearing a bow tie…then me and a friend (who’s smart as hell - runs a hedge fund) sat in the hotel room for like an hour and watched youtube videos/etc on his iphone and couldn’t figure it out.
I called the concierge, asked if someone could help, they said they’d check…they sent up some mexican dude whose advice was: “oh you just adjust the strap then hook it”. thanks diego but i didn’t get this from men’s warehouse.but yeah, steps 1-5 are simple and built for a child, and they walk through these slowly on the videos, then the main move to push the second bow through a hole is covered up by your hand, and rushed so you have no fucking clue what’s going on. oh well.
Maybe you should have gone to an actual webpage instead of trying to use a video. Damn kids and your “fancy” “videos”.
And Omar — the things that are worth learning instead of googling I already know because I do them often enough. For those other things that aren’t worth taking up space in my brain, I’m more than happy to google when I need them.

One of the several great lines in a pretty interesting NYT piece about the madness of the American cell phone market.
Looking for a Method in Cellphone Price Madness - NYTimes.com
A couple other highlights:
- “Sprint, at No. 3, has been losing customers for several years.” I still love my Sprint Employee Referral Offer plan: about $36, including taxes and fees, for 450 minutes, unlimited texting, and unlimited data.

Dang. I pay $60/mo pre-taxes/fees for the same plan with my employee pricing. Maybe I need a new job.
Crystal Pepsi! Or maybe the dude just peed in a bottle and is selling it for $20. Either way.
Hmm, I definitely remember it being clearer than that.
absurdness
so in the airline magazine, there’s this 14k exercise machine they’re advertising. in the advertisement it claims that it’s totally worth it, and refers you to this amazingly ghetto website: http://pleasedothemath.com/
The best part is you don’t need the machine. Google “Tabata intervals”.
Geets (via unnamedplayer)
Nigerian scammers.
